Steve & Sharla

Okay, so I don't always wear tights and make-up and scare little children. In real life I am a devout Christian and (hopefully) a great husband.

This is a picture of me with my beautiful wife on our Honeymoon in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Bio

I was born in Buffalo, NY on February 12, 1968. (It's said that when they made me they threw away the mold, and my brother claims they beat the daylights out of the mold-maker too!) I lived in Buffalo with my Mom, Dad and older brother and sister until we moved to a suburb of Buffalo called the Town of Tonawanda in 1976. I have the greatest family in the world, I couldn't have hand-picked a better one if given the chance to.

I grew up in the Town and graduated from Kenmore West high school in 1986. My teen years were spent destroying my body playing various sports. When my friends grew up and had other responsibilities and couldn't get together every single night for my daily physical beatings, I started going through withdrawal. I needed to find some other way to punish my flesh, pro-wrestling was the obvious choice.

In 1989 I moved to Connecticut to enter the chamber of horrors that is known as wrestling school. Talk about physically demanding, I would lose 6 to 8 pounds of water weight at each workout. My instructor was Doctor D David Shults. Shults was known as one of the nastiest men in pro wrestling in the early 80's, and a legitimate tough guy. (For those of you who don't remember him, he was the guy who slapped John Stossels of 20/20 during a wrestling expose at that time. Stossels asked if wrestling was fake, Shults replied with a couple of slaps to the head while asking rhetorically, "Is this fake?") My thinking was, "Who better to dish out a bi-weekly pummeling to me?"

After 9 grueling months Shults got a call from an old friend of his named Bill Ash who needed a wrestler to come work for him. In 1990 I moved to Paris, Arkansas, and the New York Nightmare was born.

In 1995 I moved to Texarkana, Texas, started attending Church on the Rock and met the angel who would later become my wife. On September 11th 1999, (For those of you playing the home game, September 11th is 9-11. Was I making a desperate cry for help when choosing this date? No one came to my rescue.) we were married. We are still waiting for me to grow up so we can have kids.

In August of 2000 I hooked up with the Christian Wrestling Federation. The athletes at CWF are superior to any I have worked with over my entire career, and as a bonus, they are all good Christian men. We travel the country wrestling and preaching. Our shows are extremely entertaining, but most importantly, we are spreading the Word of God.

So here I am, many years after getting into the wrestling business, and still waiting for my first million bucks. I believe the Lord's blessing is coming though; I just hope it gets here before they have to put me out to pasture, or worse yet, shoot me.

All my love to Sharla, Mom, Dad, Brob, Char, Tom, Roz, Jan, Tate, The Baron, my 5 little punks (Kelly, Kim, Jackie, Gabby, and Kaitlin), Christopher, Charles, and Timmah(!)

God bless.
